چکیده

The manufacture of concentrated detergent granules in the detergent industry can be achie®ed by the incorporation of surfactant pastes, such as linear alkylbenzene sulfonate ( ) ( paste LAS a lamellar liquid crystalline material surfactant concentration of ca. 78 ) wt. % . LAS paste was processed at 25 C and 60 C, in both the absence and presence ( ) of sodium disilicate Na O:2SiO additi®e, and the effect on the formation of shear2 2 ( ) induced multilamellar ®esicle MLV microstructures was studied. Our results suggest that LAS pastes of high hardness and stiffness are always associated with MLV microstructures and ®ice ®ersa these are known as ‘‘ structured’’ pastes in industry, and also appear nonadhesi®e. MLVs are able to form from ‘‘ pure’’ LAS at 25 C, although, at 60 C, sodium disilicate is necessary. With increased processing time, the size of the MLVs decreases and becomes more uniform pastes are also increasingly hard and stiff. When stored, ‘‘ structured’’ pastes e®entually re®ert back to being soft and sticky, reflecting the metastable nature of the MLVs.

Surface Recognition and Complexations Between Synthetic Poly(ribo)nucleotides and Neutral Phospholipids and Their Implications in Lipofection

Thermodynamic features related to preparation and use of self-assemblies formed between multilamellar and unilamellar zwitterionic liposomes and polynucleotides with various conformation and sizes are presented. The divalent metal cation or surfactant-induced adsorption, aggregation and adhesion between single- and double-stranded polyribonucleotides and phosphatidylcholine vesicles was followe...

Vesicles and onion phases in dilute surfactant solutions

We study theoretically the stability of phases of unilamellar and multilamellar vesicles in bilayer-forming surfactant solutions. It is argued that these are likely to arise, instead of a bicontinuous "sponge" phase, when the elastic constants of the bilayer are chosen so that the curvature energy of a sphere is small. At very low volume fractions we predict a phase of noninteracting vesicles; ...

Polyelectrolyte-induced peeling of charged multilamellar vesicles.

We study mixtures of charged surfactants, which alone in solution form uni- and multilamellar vesicles, and oppositely charged polyelectrolytes (PEs). The phase behavior is investigated at fixed surfactant concentration as a function of the PE-to-surfactant charge ratio, x. We find that, for x > 0, aggregates form. Light microscopy and X-ray scattering experiments show that the isoelectric poin...

In vitro evaluation of itraconazole loaded vesicles prepared from non-ionic surfactants

This study aims to investigate the capability of forming itraconazole containing niosomes with Span 60 and Brij 58 as non-ionic surfactants. Lower cost and higher stability makes niosomes a more suitable choice in comparison with liposomes. The capability to form vesicles as an itraconazole delivery system and the influence of different factors such as type of surfactant and molar ratio of chole...
